Drop the Boss: Maralago

Mirror Image Gaming is going back to the drop zone.

The studio has announced Drop the Boss: Maralago, the follow-up to their original Drop the Boss title and their latest release, built on the Fortune Engine physics framework. Where the first game established the core concept — drop a character, survive the fall, see what you unlock — the Maralago edition expands the reward structure underneath it with three distinct embedded casino mini-games: a 777 Slot Machine, a Plinko board, and a Lucky Wheel.

The mechanic is the same. The stakes are higher.

The concept is blunt and deliberately irreverent. Two suited caricatures — rendered in a Rick and Morty-adjacent cartoon style, arms flailing, expressions appropriately panicked — are sent airborne above a sun-drenched Florida estate: palm trees, a marina, a pink-stucco mansion, and a yacht sitting comfortably in the background. The setting is recognisable by design. The characters are exaggerated to the point of absurdity, which is the whole tone the game is going for. This isn’t a serious political statement — it’s a premise engineered to be shareable, provocative enough to cut through, and just cartoonish enough to stay on the right side of satire. The GTA-style logo treatment completes the aesthetic: bold, slightly chaotic, and clearly aimed at an audience that appreciates the joke.

The decision to build a second instalment around the same physics framework rather than retire it is a signal. Mirror Image Gaming is treating Drop the Boss as a series, not a one-off experiment, and the Maralago edition suggests they’re testing how much layered complexity the drop mechanic can support before the core concept gets crowded. Three mini-games embedded behind a single physics interaction is a meaningful step up from the original.

The studio has been transparent about its broader direction. Drop the Boss: Maralago is part of what Mirror Image Gaming describes as a mission to develop mechanics that sit outside traditional reel-based gameplay — and the Fortune Engine is clearly the vehicle they’re betting on to get there.

No release date, RTP data, or volatility figures have been confirmed. Both will matter. Physics-drop games carry specific mathematical questions about how much player input genuinely influences outcome, and the multi-mini-game structure adds another layer of variance that the published maths model will need to account for clearly.

More detail from Mirror Image Gaming is expected ahead of launch.
